Recap: LomoWalk in Old Town Shanghai with LomoChrome Color ’92
2Armed with film cameras and curiosity, we slowed our pace through Old Town Shanghai for a nostalgic afternoon of street photography with LomoChrome Color ’92.
Our April LomoWalk began at Gucheng Park, passed through Yuyuan Garden, and ended near Chenghuang Temple. Just a few streets from the city’s commercial core, the rhythm here changes — slower, warmer, and filled with unpolished everyday scenes.
The Look: Color ’92 in Three Formats
This time, we shot with LomoChrome Color ’92 — a film stock known for its pastel undertones, soft contrast, and natural tint reminiscent of 90s photo prints. Participants explored both the color negative and the Sun-kissed edition with warmer tones. Available in 135, 120, and 110 formats, the film paired easily with everything from Lomo LC-Wide and LomoKino to Lomomatic 110 and Diana F+.
The goal was simple: walk slowly, shoot casually, and let the film do the talking.
A Walk That’s Not in a Hurry
The route wasn’t long, but it was full of contrasts. We passed half-renovated facades, street-side snack stalls, tiled rooftops, and alleyways shaded by drying laundry. Some corners were still; others pulsed with quiet energy — people fixing umbrellas, sipping tea, playing chess, or simply resting.
Color ’92 handled these textures with ease. It doesn’t dramatize or flatten what you see — just adds a subtle shift in tone, like a memory gently faded over time.
Route: Gucheng Park → Yuyuan → Chenghuang Temple
From tree-lined paths to winding lanes and ornamental rooftops, the group wandered, observed, and traded shooting tips. Some captured the same moment on different cameras — later comparing how each frame caught the light in its own way.
A Gathering of Lomographers
Every LomoWalk brings together different eyes and approaches. This time, some opted for Fisheye No.2 to fragment high-angle street scenes; others used the Lomomatic 110 for candid portraits. A few brought along the Lomo’Instant Square the Blues, making sure the neighborhood was seen through a variety of formats and moods.
Documenting the Unwritten Pages of the City
In a metropolis nicknamed "The Magic City," Old Town might be its least magical yet most heartfelt chapter — raw, layered, and rooted in the textures of daily life. Color ’92 became less a tool for nostalgia and more a way to see with intention: to notice what might otherwise be overlooked.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for this sunlit afternoon of strolling, shooting, and sharing — a springtime dream sealed in Color ’92.
