Hello Arm, welcome back to Lomography Magazine. How are you these days?
Hello. This time is my resting period because the weather was both hot and rainy, making it difficult to take photographs, so I decided to take a break. Also, I just came back from a trip in Korea.
Tell us about the concept for this shoot. What and where did you decide to photograph?
From seeing the color samples, the film has different colors than the original LomoChrome Color '92 film that was released before. It has a more vintage feel, and the red color is interesting and grainy. So I chose a location with a red background.
What were your first impressions when you saw the results?
After I saw the results, the colors were interestingly different from normal color negative film. The red, blue, and yellow tones were like using a vintage filter, including the contrast of the photos from indoors and outdoors. Also, lighting conditions and shooting over- and under-exposure gave different results.
Portrait photography is based on communicating emotions. Where do you usually find inspiration for photography?
My photography inspiration comes from the work of photographers from Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. I follow and see the work of those photographers. I look at their perspectives, concepts to see what they present and apply it to my own work.
If I have some time, I would also watch movies and music videos because the visual work in them have already been thought of, including ideas in lighting, camera angles, storytelling perspectives, and presentations. I can adapt it to my own work as well.
Did you face any challenges during this portrait photography shoot?
I think the challenge with portrait work is communication and presentation of the work. Communication is important because it involves working between the photographer, the subject, and other parties. To bring the picture in your head and make it come true, including the mood, feeling, posting, and location, it is a detailed matter and an important component of portrait photography.
What advice would you give to others shooting with the LomoChrome Color ‘92 Sun-kissed film ?
This film looks like a vintage filter that will give you a photographic experience different from normal color negative film. You can maybe add ideas for dressing in a vintage style or play with different colors to get results that are different from normal. It's fun to try something new.
