Dive Into the Vintage Universe of LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-Kissed With Jade and Yannis
5 Share TweetJade and Yannis, two film photography enthusiasts, recently had the opportunity to test our new LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed film before its official release. In this interview, they share with us their experience and tips for making the most of this unique film.
Hello, welcome to Lomography Magazine! Can you introduce yourself to the community?
Hi! We are Jade and Yannis, a couple of students living in the south of France in Montpellier. Film photography is a shared passion born at the heart of our relationship, which captures our daily life. We naturally started sharing our photos on the Lomography website.
Can you tell us about the photos you took?
It was an honor to test this film! We shot it three times; unfortunately we never managed to have a clear sky, but in the end, we really like the result!
When we take photos, it's always during walks we do to occupy our days: from a stroll in the vineyards in stormy weather to a lake tour under a gray sky, to a Catalan village festival with a pyrotechnic procession.
What did you think of this LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed film?
Despite our desire and efforts to see what this film looks like under bright sun, the weather didn't cooperate and we took photos either under a gray sky, in the rain or in the dark... But we were very pleasantly surprised by the result! The touches of blue and brown stand out well. We find this retro ambiance effect that we can find in our parents' photo albums. The colors have sepia tones, which are very delicate but keep an interesting contrast.
For what occasions would you recommend this film?
We tested this film in different environments: indoors, the warm tones come out wonderfully and the photos are very balanced. Outdoors, in the absence of sun, the tones appear very sepia, but as soon as a ray appears on the horizon, the film reveals a strong potential for contrasts and colors. Finally, we tested this film in low light conditions, and it performs surprisingly well!
With this contrast that comes back between the earth and the sky, we imagine that this film could be ideal for a sunny late afternoon or early evening by the beach for. The red tones of a garment, a shutter or a boat hull will definitely stand out.
What advice would you give to other photographers who want to shoot with this film?
Don't be afraid to use it in low light! This film will work very well to reveal an interior but also under a big blue sky. It's a film that will be perfect to give a vintage effect to your photos! Like any film you will need to try it under different conditions to know its full potential!
