Analogue Rookie Hung Crafts Soft & Sun-kissed Portraits with Lomography Film
1 3 Share TweetPhotographer and documentary maker Hung is currently a student, and is taking steps toward becoming a professional visual storyteller. This is her first time shooting with a full roll of film, and she experimented with the LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-Kissed and Berlin Kino B&W 400 film. Let’s take a look at her results!
Hi Hung, it's great to have you on the Lomography Online Magazine! Could you introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello everyone! I'm Hung! I’m currently a student majoring in Communication, and also a freelance image creator and documentary director. My works mainly focus on portraits. The name of my account, "sparkler," represents the handheld fireworks. I hope to capture every fleeting moment through the lens of my camera, whether it's still or moving, and I hope everyone who is in front of my lens shines brightly!
Could you share with us how you started your photography journey?
I started photography in July 2022, initially focusing on documentation for bands. Before I began photography, I was extremely shy—walking with my head down, not daring to speak to people, and honestly, I didn't like being around others much. But through photography, I started meeting a lot of people, and it was because of photography that I began to appreciate people more.
Do you mainly shoot with film or digital?
I mostly shoot digital because I am an ultra-perfectionist, and digital allows me to try multiple times to choose the photo that I think is the most perfect. But I also really like film, especially its randomness and the unpredictable beauty it brings. Actually, this is my first time completing an entire roll of film, and I hope everyone likes it.

Did you have a specific theme for this shoot?
My photography has always centered around people, and this time is no exception. I wanted to capture the interaction between people and light, giving the photos a familiar yet refreshing atmosphere, documenting those designed yet unusual and beautiful moments in everyday life!
What do you think about the color tones presented by the LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-Kissed ?
I absolutely love this film! Its tones have a soft warm orange feel, especially in how the sunlight hits the skin, which perfectly complements the Showa-inspired vibe I wanted to convey in this street photography series. The contrast and detail are also fantastic, creating an atmosphere while maintaining the authenticity of the scene!
How would you describe the feel of the Berlin Kino B&W 400 ?
The black and white tones of the Berlin Kino give me a subtle, elegant feeling. It's not overly intense or dramatic, but instead carries a quiet and delicate atmosphere. The soft contrast aligns perfectly with the introspective and understated mood of the lotus I photographed!
Can you pick your favorite photo for us?
This one is my favorite! I love how the image has a hint of strangeness, but also carries a sense of absurdity and desolation.

Do you have any upcoming photography projects?
Recently, I've been busy shooting a documentary, which is scheduled to air on Public Television. In addition, I'm also planning to create a photo book. This male model, Milan, is a friend I've known for over a year, and I've been photographing him during this time. I hope to continue documenting his different phases and compile everything into a complete work next year. Also, while shooting the documentary, I want to use film to take behind-the-scenes photos as another creative extension.
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to say to the Lomography community?
I'm really happy to share my photography story on Lomography! I hope everyone can pick up a camera, whether it's digital or film, and capture those fleeting yet precious moments in their lives!
Thank you Hung for capturing these wonderful moments for us. If you'd like to see more of her photography, follow her on Instagram!
