Lomography's newest launch, the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass, has a close focusing distance of 0.3 m, making it great for portraits, studio photography, or simply capturing tiny objects up close and on Instax Wide film. Another upgrade for the camera is an additional f/22 manual fixed aperture option for more flexible photo-taking with different occasions and themes.

The close-up capability of the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass is perfect for a versatile range of shooting preferences. As can be seen in these early snaps with the camera, the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass can be used for portraits, macrophotography, or experimental photography.

Instant Portraits

One of the best ways to maximize the camera's 0.3 m closest focusing distance is by taking fun portraits capturing someone's most spontaneous expressions, or using the camera in a professional set-up such as in fashion photography for model castings and the like.

When taking portraits with the instant camera, a few recommendations in terms of lighting and set-up is to use a -1 manual compensation for subjects that are at a 0.3 m distance indoors and when using flash. Meanwhile, when shooting outdoors in shadowy situations without flash, consider using a +1 manual compensation if the subject is at the same 0.3 m distance.

To effectively capture a portrait, don't hesitate to warn your subjects about the flash upfront. Asking the subjects to look elsewhere and not straight into the camera could also work for a more dramatic or natural approach.

Still Life

Another way to use the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass is by looking at life a little closer with still life and macrophotography. The new camera also retains the creative functions of the Lomo'Instant Wide, including the multiple exposure, Color Gel flash filters, and splitzer, making it fit for experimental photography on instant format.

One example is by doing multiple exposure portraits, by first taking photos of a darker subject and super-imposing another subject on top.

Whether it's to have fun, get experimental or get serious with instant photography, the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass offers many ways to be creative with the instant format.
