Community Gallery: Seizing the Day with the Sprocket Rocket
10 Share TweetIt's safe to say that many of us (especially those who love to create) live life with a tendency to romanticize even simplicity itself. In film photography, the panoramic format does this extremely well by transforming an everyday scene into something more similar to a movie still.
In celebration of the Sprocket Rocket and the panoramic mode, we're sharing images taken by our community members giving off the feeling of a warm day well spent, sprocket holes and all!
The charm of the panoramic mode lies in its ability to give us more freedom to compose a scene, enhancing the visual experience we can derive from looking at a photograph. Because of their size, super-wide cameras like the Sprocket Rocket are often used to photograph landscapes, architecture, or street scenes.
But panoramic cameras can be something to explore and experiment with, too. The Sprocket Rocket, which takes 72mm-wide photos, is known for its sprocket holes and vignette. Whether it's by using color-shifting film stocks such as LomoChrome Turquoise and LomoChrome Purple or using the panoramic format to also take portraits, there's much that can be done creatively with the Sprocket Rocket because of its features.
Truly, panoramic photos taken with the Sprocket Rocket are reminiscent of coming-of-age or slice-of-life movies. These photos by our community members give off the feeling of a warm hug or a satisfying and memorable day.
Whether it's landscape shots or close-up portraits, in black and white or with a color-shifting twist, with or without the sprocket holes, this format creates unique remembrances on film.
