Community Gallery: First Rolls with the Lomomatic 110 Camera
1 5With the Lomomatic 110 getting a great reception from the analogue community, we take a look at photos from Lomographers all over the world who have been using the new pocket camera. From day trips at death valley to catching underground gigs and even portrait sessions, these Lomographers showcase their love for the Lomomatic 110.
Lomographer Akio Nakai is a mainstay in the community and we always love to see his new film photos. Recently he took the new Lomomatic 110 on a night run to watch the band "Rinda & Marya" in the underground music scene of Tokyo. He tested out the low light capabilities of the Lomomatic, you can see how the camera does well in capturing the whole aura of the setting.
"For me I really liked the design and color of the camera! Everyone gets surprised when I start shooting with it. It's very intuitive to use and I use the night mode to get those slow shutter speed shots which I think turned out well despite not using the flash. Just always remember to choose the correct focusing distance!" - Akio Nakai
When @crookedkitty first saw the new Lomomatic 110, her instant reaction was "wow, what a sleek-looking camera! Let’s slap in some film and figure it out.” Trying it out on a road trip, she mainly used the camera during the day time where the results she got blew her away as she was able to get that retro and grainy aesthetic that she looks for.
"Though I consider the camera easy to use I did need to get the hang of how the camera advances each film. I love the nostalgic feeling when I use it as well as how functional and sleek this camera can be. Bringing the camera on our 4-day road trip, we went to Death Valley, Las Vegas, and Joshua Tree, which are great places to experiment with a new camera. You can see I was still trying to figure out how to advance the film in the first few shots. I really like how the outdoor shoots of Joshua Tree and Lake Manly came out, but my favorites are the nighttime images of the Las Vegas sphere and the lobby of the Paris Hotel. I don’t know if it’s because they feel artsy and abstract, or because someone told me I should throw them in the trash, either way, I love them and I love shooting with this camera." – @crookedkitty
Last year @jy_snaps showcased his creativity with the LomoApparat and with the Lomomatic we can see the the same creative style this time in 110 format. He was pleasantly surprised that a new 110 camera was in the market and loved how compact and easy it is to use, as well as having the usual features found in Lomography cameras (notably bulb mode, and his favorite – the multiple exposure.)
"I didn’t expect that such a small format could take good photos. For example, I used LomoChrome Purple 110 film to shoot fireworks in Disney and the carousel light track. I was surprised by the effect of Lomomatic 110. It is an easy camera to shoot in the dark." – @jy_snaps
@DWASAWAT has always wanted to try the 110 format but waited until he could find a reliable camera. Seeing the sleek silver body of the Lomomatic 110 he was instantly drawn to it and loved how user-friendly the camera is. As someone who shoots portraits, he really wanted to see how the camera holds up when shooting his usual subjects. He was really impressed with the results and just reminded us to make sure you get the correct zone focus to get the best result possible.
"This camera is perfect for street photographers who want speed in snapping and capturing the moment quickly. It utilizes the principle of zone focusing combined with the wide-angle camera lens itself, allowing for rapid image capture with its film-advancing system. Moreover, adjusting aperture settings and having a wide range depth of field make it quite versatile for capturing various subjects effortlessly. Additionally, the camera itself is suitable for anyone, regardless of age or gender, who loves film photography." – @DWASAWAT
