First Impressions of the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens: Ron Lau

Ron Lau from Lomography’s Camera and Lens Development team recently tested the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens. With Leica M2 and Voigtlander R2A cameras, he used the lens to capture scenes from his daily grind and beautiful seascapes from a recent trip. He shares the photos and talks of the Minitar and its capabilities in this brief yet informative interview.

What are your first impressions of the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens 2.8/32M?

[It’s] compact and nice, will be a perfect companion for my Leica M cameras.

How was your experience shooting with it?

It made taking my shots a lot quicker. And when you need precise focusing, it does deliver with its smooth rangefinder coupling.

Kindly tell us something about the photos you took. What did you decide to photograph using the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Lens and why? What is/are your favorite/s?

The Minitar lens gives stunning saturation and contrast to your photo. Like what you see [in these photos], it’s perfect for bringing along [to] your vacation.

What did you like most about the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Lens?

[Its] compactness.

Now that you have experienced using the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Lens, what other subjects do you think would be perfect to shoot with it?

Parties, vacations, daily life.

What advice could you give first-time users of the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Lens?

    @ron Another greats lenses to put back into production as your Art Lenses are the legendary Mir 1b 37/2,8 M42 mount and the wonderful M39 mount Jupiter 3 (50/1,5). I have the original ones, these lens are superb!
