Fuji Superia (35mm, 100 iso) user-review

Day or Night, This Film Has You Covered: Probably one of the most versatile of films that i have shot with. Great colors in both low light and daylight situations. Very interesting results when used for double exposures.

I shoot almost exclusively with this film for two reasons: first of all i get amazing results on a regular basis, and second of all because the local photography store i go to has an expired film bin (everything 60% off) that seems to always be well stocked with it. But i’d like to think that choosing this film simply isn’t circumstantial, i really do love shooting with it and would continue to use it even if i didn’t get it at a discounted price.

What i’ve noticed about this film that has separated it from other 35mm color negative film is that it seems to produce vibrant results whether you shoot in full daylight or lower light situations (both indoor and outdoor). This is compared to a film like Kodak Portra 160VC. Though i think the colors for that film are absolutely amazing when shot in daylight, they seem to lack equivalent vibrancy when shot in low light situations and the tone seems overall muted. But when it comes to Superia there is a level of consistent richness to the colors. And of course being a lower ISO there is little film grain if any at all.

And regardless of the lighting condition you shoot in (even if you use flash), you’re almost guaranteed to get some great vignetting, especially when shooting with a LC-A or LC-A+. You should most definitely give multiple exposures a try as well, even with the over exposure the film still renders beautiful and vivid colors.
