Community Gallery: Streaks of Sunlight
1 7No matter how subtle, patches of sunlight affect the mood of an image. Figuratively, the masterful incorporation of this element in scenes could signify an important realization, a "light at the end of the tunnel" moment, an emancipation or a renewal.
In this gallery, we searched through the works of our community members to be inspired by examples of photos where natural light elevates an image.
There are many ways to use sun rays as part of an image, either for portraits, still or street photography. In portraits, it can take center stage by lighting the subject from an angle. When photographing interiors, streaks of sunlight offer dimension and a curious touch.
Using sunlight in photos can also train our skills in composing images or nailing the correct camera settings to avoid overexposure, and creating a proper interplay between the sunlight and the subject.
Even in black and white images, light rays add a visual element that makes a photo more dynamic and alive. It is also more noticeable in a monochromatic image, such as in these photos of community members @cole_bailey, @akula, @emanuelearciprete, @aamelasaa and @stratski where we couldn't help but study the image with the lighting method in mind.
These photos by our community members inspire us to use our surroundings and the coming and going of daylight hours for a poetic approach to photography.
