Winter Ash Trees - in camera lumen

Old Ash trees in a farmer's field with bungalows on the skyline. In camera lumen on long expired Kodak Polycontrast paper and a 2 hour exposure. This was taken using my newly converted Coronet F20 pseudo TLR wide open with shutter and aperture removed. A 'nothing special' camera punching above its weight when used differently to original intended purpose.

This and similar pictures in the series seem great for illustrations of books by Edgar Poe / Ambrose Bierce or something like this :) Wonderfully transmitting impression of calmness and uneasiness at once, some indescribable, unintelligible shade of horror :)

@rodiongork Thank you very much! I had not thought about these being good for illustrations for certain genres of literature! Calmness and uneasiness is a great description as people tell me they are quite 'eerie' :-)

I agree with the comment above. There is a beautifully illustrated book I used to read to my children that your work reminds me of. I wish I could remember the title! I will ask my eldest when I see him

@roaringtree I asked him and he said it was the "Dragon Machine" but when I checked I found the pictures online don't look I remember them. I'm sure we still have the book stored somewhere. If I ever stumble upon it, I can confirm it's either the correct book or my memory is worse than I thought! 😄

@stevejack0 Thank you for asking and even if not that book I know where you are coming from. I remember lots of dark illustrations from children's books, especially the much older ones and dark fairy tales :-)
