Sexuality Juxtaposed with Playfulness: Photography by Eylül Aslan

Eylül Aslan's work is the perfect mix of charged spontaneity and unapologetic boldness. Her images are unusual in composition. She values genuine self-expression, regardless of societal norms. The Berlin-based Turkish photographer seems to find comfort in the absurd, and it shows in her work. She speaks of her craft, and what it stands for, in this interview.

    Teufelsberg: The Architecture of Espionage

The spying globes on Teufelsberg are the not-so-secret insider tip for Berlin’s urban ruins and interesting freak show architecture. Even if you’re reluctant, one thing's for sure: the “Devil’s Mountain” is just plain awesome. The torn-up globe structures of the former military territory are just waiting to be conquered by lomographers… so what are you waiting for?

The World According to Herr Willie: Olympiastadion Berlin

The 2015 UEFA Champions League Final will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on June 6. It is a place full of history and is also the only football stadium with a blue track course. Some say it is the most beautiful stadium in the world, and I totally agree with them. But then agai,n I might be biased because it is the home court of my favorite team, Hertha BSC Berlin—my blue-white bloodline.

I Love Watching People Doing Their Work

I claim: you can´t get more authenticity than with people at work! I guess a lot of poeple can´t think of stepping into a store, bakery, coiffeur or whatever, take out their camera and ask if they can take a few pictures. But you being an (silent) observer ensures you getting authenticity and you decide the moment which is worth being captured - not the right facial expression you need to quick pull the trigger.

    Embroidered Pictures by Diane Meyer

Editing pictures with image manipulation software or a mobile app is not unheard of. An alienation of photos by needle and thread, on the other hand, is an intricate process. Los Angeles-based artist and photographer Diane Meyer has gained instant fame for her embroidered analog photos. In this interview, she talks about adding a new dimension to pictures as well as her source of inspiration and other projects.

Ilford Sportsman 300 Review from My 30 Weeks, 30 Cams Project

This is the review of the camera I used in the first week of my "30 Weeks, 30 Cams Project": the Ilford Sportsman 300. I found this camera on eBay for € 2.49. I didn't know anything about it but thought the name is somehow funny and it would be a nice camera to start the project with. So here is my review about the handling of the camera.

The Smena SL - A History of Confusion with Remarkable Consequences

I read a lot on the Internet about the various Smena camera models. So I actually ended up wanting to buy a Smena Symbol. Since the symbol can often often be confused with the SL, I learned about the specific differences, after I bought the SL at a flea market!

    30 Weeks, 30 Cams: Week 2, Minox 35 EL

After testing the Ilford Sportsman 300S in week 1 and being pretty satified with it, I tested the Minox 35 EL I got for €2.49 from eBay in week 2. This one I got from eBay too, but I paid more for it. I didn´t know anything about it but I noticed it the first time bccbarbosa had some nice shots uploaded, taken using one of the tiny Minox 35 series. That was my motivation to buy it.

My Analogue Bucket List: Faster Than a Speeding Cannonball

The new year is still young, but it seems as if it'll be over quickly. My organizer is already filled with entries until June. 2015 will probably be worse than 2014 when it comes to having time off so I could take some analogue shots. Anyway, there are some photography-related things that I really want to get done. It is probably best to set some goals if I only have very limited time.

With the Fuji T64 120 (Tungsten) film your pictures might get a great colour explosion, but you have to choose your subjects wisely. Otherwise, you will probably wonder about pale pictures like I did. As this is a great film, you should take care to achieve those great popping colours you aim for. Read on after the jump!

2012: A Year of Analogue Passion

This last year was my first full year in this great community. I got in touch with very nice and interesting people around the globe and I saw many many great pictures which in fact wasn´t helpful for my bank account. I was really inspired by a lot of shots you took and so I badly had to buy this and that and try this or that. But thanks a lot for the input. Here, I want to show you my favorite shots of the last 12 months, one for each month, which is pretty hard to choose. You won't miss my best failures too, and the ones I like from the best of the community.

The Olympia stadium in Berlin is the most beautiful stadium in the world... in the eyes of all fans of the local football club Hertha BSC. And so is my opinion. It was built for the Olympic Games in 1936 and therefore it was built majestically to serve Hitler's delight in eternal propaganda for the German Reich.
