TEN AND ONE Awards Residency Week: Meet the Lomographers (Part 2)

5

In 2016, we launched the first ever TEN AND ONE: Annual Lomography Photo Awards — one of the biggest photography competitions in the experimental photography scene. As part of the grandiose prizes, we randomly selected lomographers out of the 110 winners to spend a week-long artist residency at the Lomography HQ in Vienna. Get to know the participants in this short interview.

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Louie and I'm an artist living in a seaside town in the South-East of England. I became properly interested in photography only two years ago and have since pursued projects as an extension of my art which focus mainly on street photography and capturing the nightlife in my local area. I am very excited to meet everyone at Lomo HQ and my fellow competition winners and hopefully come back learning much more about the art of photography.

What are the cameras, films, and other gear that you'll bring to the Residency Week?

I have a large collection of toy cameras, point-and-shoots, and some SLRs which I have acquired from different charity shops and boot sales in the UK. I like experimenting with expired films and unusual cameras and I'm currently using a Yashica T5 and an Olympus OM-1n for most of my work.

Accessible, inspiring, and unpredictable

Eleonore Pairet (@eleonorepairet)

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Eleonore, from Belgium, but spent most of my life living abroad. I’ve lived in Japan, Germany, USA, and Taiwan when I was younger. I’ve just finished my medical studies and started working as a pediatrician. Due to my international and mobile background, I love to visit new places whenever I have the opportunity to do so. I’ve never been to Vienna and have heard such amazing stories about this city. I can’t wait to discover it with Lomography!

What are the cameras, films, and other gear that you'll bring to the Residency Week?

I discovered the Lomo community thanks to a friend who had a LOMO LC-A. However, I couldn’t afford one and so I received a Sprocket Rocket for my birthday many years ago (still love it). Since then, I’ve won (Thank you for all the Lomography competitions!) and received other cameras that I can’t wait to use in Vienna: Lomo LC-Wide (my favorite), LomoKino, Horizon Perfekt, and Lomo'Instant.

I’ve just used the LomoChrome Purple film for the first time this summer and loved it; hope I’ll be able to use it again in Vienna. Otherwise, my favorites tend to be the Lomo Xpro 200 and the Lady Grey 100. I’m going to try and convince the Lomo team to remake the Xpro Chrome 100.

Raymond Chin (@raywychin)

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am Raymond Chin from Hong Kong. I grew up in Hong Kong and studied abroad in the United Kingdom since Year 10. I graduated from LSE (London School of Economics) in 2013 and I am currently located in Hong Kong. I am a portrait photographer and a film lover. I have the joy of capturing the natural moments of people. I started my photography since I got my first film camera Lomo LC-A+ six years ago. I believe a good photo can always tell a story. Be passionate, enjoy, and shoot.

What are the cameras, films, and other gear that you'll bring to the Residency Week?

I will bring my LC-A+, LC-Wide, Horizon Perfekt, LC-A120 and Nikon F6. Films that I will bring: Lomo CN400, CN800, Lomo X-Pro Chrome 100, T64, Kodak EB3, E100VS, Fujifilm Provia 400X, Kodak Pro Image 100 etc.

What are the cameras, films, and other gear that you'll bring to the Residency Week?

This is THE question... to be completely honest I'm still deciding. But my trusty LC-A+ Silver Lake and the LomoKino for sure. The rest, I think I'll know the night before.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I live and work in Gdansk in Poland.

I work in design office and although photography isn't my means of living still is a great part of my life I can't live without.

I started the adventure with photography about 9 years ago using a Holga camera. This amazing camera stole my heart and still is my favorite medium format camera. I shoot mostly portraits but I also like taking pictures of landscapes and interesting or specific architecture. Films, literature and modern paintings are my biggest inspiration.

Besides photography my other hobby is knitting, I love to spend evenings with knitting and watching a good film.

What are the cameras, films, and other gear that you'll bring to the Residency Week?

I will bring a Holga camera, Lomo'Instant Automat Glass and a bunch of color films like Kodak Portra.
