The Basel Carnival

The Basler Fasnacht, is the largest carnival in Switzerland, and is recognised as an intangible World Heritage according to UNESCO. It is a three-day celebration that takes place the Monday after Ash Wednesday. The carnival is known for its unique traditions, including the Morgestraich (a parade in the dark with lanterns), musical performances by Cliques (groups of drummers and flute players), and elaborate costumes.
