Ghosts of an Old Carousel

The old main carousel (the one for the 'big kids') at Conneaut Lake Park in Western Pennsylvania. How many times have I been on this thing? No way to tell. The park has been falling into disrepair for decades, but after a couple years of closure, they're trying to begin fixing it up again.

The carousel was closed up the day I was there, because the park isn't open during the week, although you can still walk through. I put the flash on the camera and squeaked it through a hole in the boards to take this picture. Because of the exposed half, it's recognizable but even more surreal than average.

This was a fat roll, probably because it was a roll of Fuji film being wound onto a non-Fuji take-up spool. The last half of the roll was exposed to varying degrees when I unloaded the film.

Feeling inspired by this photo? You can pick up the Lomography Diana F+ Camera & Flash in our Shop. We don’t stock this film, but our film category is full of great options.
