If art school taught me anything, it was to give up on trying take photos like those I see in the National Geographic. Rules are made to be bent, broken and then shaped into something new that suits your own style. My avatar is a photo by 19th century art photographer Julia Margaret Cameron; a woman who embraced the use of soft focus in her work, while her male contemporaries scoffed at her 'blurry' pictures. The Grandmother of Lomography perhaps? ;)
