The Vermont floodwaters are pouring through the Turners Falls Dam Complex on the Connecticut River with a force that we normally only see in Springtime. It's much muddier than usual though and the river smells like fresh earth as it roars past carrying with it branches and logs and the occasional propane tank. Dangerous currents sweep everything along at a dizzying speed. I saw many scary looking whirlpools and eddies today when I ventured further downstream to the confluence of the Deerfield and the CT River.
