    Lomo Experiments: Bluescale Your Old Kodachrome 64 Stash!

    Kodachrome is one of those golden films from a not too distant past that has died a sudden death. Not only because the film was taken out of production, but even more so because it can no longer be developed. Or can it? Read on to find out how you can easily get some seriously funky bluescale pics out of your forgotten Kodachrome 64 stash.

    I wanted to try Ilford SFX 200, but most of the pictures in this roll were washed out and really lacked contrast. These were the only ones that were acceptable. I'm not sure if it was the film, the lab or me, but I'm not too pleased with the result. I'll have to try again.

    Thank you so much to Abg Khairil Faizi Abdul Majid for this film. This is my first time using this film and I managed to get only 20 out of 36 frames. I will try better next time then. But nevertheless, lessons learned. Thanks to Idham Qamil for developing it too.

    Quick test roll with an older 35mm Summilux. I forgot the M3 has frame lines for 50mm and not 35mm so had grabbed the wrong lens before leaving that day....... Anyway, the local canal has had some great reflections lately and I can never resist stopping for some snaps when I'm driving by and see it like this.

    เป็น set black&white ม้วนแรกเลยจากเลนส์ Summicron 50/2 collapsible V.1 ผมรู้สึกมีความสุขกับกล้อง+เลนส์ตัวนี้มากๆ จับแล้วได้รู้สึกถึงความแน่นๆ หนักๆ สมกับเป็น Leica จริงๆ ม้วนนี้ผมออกมาต่างจังหวัด ได้มาสูดดมกลิ่นท้องทุ่งอีกครั้ง สบายใจจริงๆ ผมเดินไปเรื่อยๆก็จะมีท้องนากับสถานีรถไฟ ซึ่งวิ่งมาจากภาคเหนือและอีสานของประเทศไทย วันไหนผมเซ็งๆก็จะไปนั่งด฿รถไฟเป็นประจำครับ และผมก็ไม่พลาดที่จะเอากล้องฟิล์มตัวโปรดไปด้วย.

    สุสานฝรั่งนี้ เป็นสุสานของชาวต่างชาติ ผู้นับถือนิกายโปเตสแตนส์ ซึ่งขอพระราชทานที่ดินจากในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 4 ซึ่งก็โปรดประสานให้ เพราะฝรั่งมิชชั่นนารีหลายคน เป็นบุคคลสำคัญต่อชาติสยาม อย่างเช่น หมอบลัดเลย์ หมอสมิทธิ์ กัปตันแมคฟาแลนด์ และอีกหลายท่าน ถ้าสนใจศึกษาจริง ก็หาประวัติชาวต่างชาติในสยาม มาอ่านกันได้ แล้วจะเห็นว่า หลายท่านทิ้งแผ่นดินเกิด มาตายบนแผ่นดิน และฝังร่างอยู่ที่สุสานแห่งนี้ ที่เราได้พบเห็น ณ สถานที่แห่งนี้ นอกเหนือจากความสงบ เงียบงันแล้ว ก็คือ ประติมากรรม ... หลายหลายแบบ ที่บุตรหลานญาติสนิทมิตรสหาย ของผู้วายชนม์ สร้างสรรค์ มาตกแต่ที่อยู่หลังความตายให้ท่านท่านเหล่านี้ ถ้าสนใจจะไปถ่ายรูป แนะนำตอนกลางวันครับ กลางคืนน่ากลัวมาก และก็อาจจะเข้าไปไม่ได้ด้วย ไม่อนุญาติ สุสานอยู่แถว เจริญกรุง ตรง ธ.     My great-uncle was a keen photographer throughout the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. He travelled to many places and documented them with his Leica. I discovered a fragment of his work a couple of weeks ago in an attic. He was a pretty good photographer. Just out of interest I present them for you. Sorry but I am unsure of a lot of the locations.

    My first roll with the Belair is a bit of a disappointment. The camera certainly got a bunch of attention on the Midway and in Balboa Park, but I was disappointed with the photos. In my opinion, the pictures lack the sharpness and brightness I expected. I'll try again with another type of film and better lighting...and my fingers crossed. ;-)
