International Foodless Day
shared by reiga on 2012-10-17Jakarta (16/10), Peasants from Alliance for Agrarian Reform Movement hold a commemoration on International Food Day, together with other civil society organizations in Jakarta, in trade Department and Presidential Palace, Rahmat, General Secretary of AGRA, and one of Asian Peasant Coalition deputy, said today is International Foodless Day not International Food Day. “There are many peoples in various countries are lived in hunger, that’s why today is International Foodless Day” Rahmat, in his speech to the masses in at the front of Presidential Palace (16/10) Due to capitalist monopoly practices in agrarian sector, through its neoliberal policies, there are 105 from 149 from underdevelop countries are food importer, ironically the food supplies of the world are coming from these countries, since most of them are agrarian countries like in Asia and Latin America. These countries cannot fullfil their national need on food due to various binding freetrade agreement. The result are 60% of hunger in the world are coming from Asia and Pacific, followed by Sub Sahara Countries in Africa 24%, and 6% from Latin America and Caribiean. Every year those who died because unf hunger is increasing become 5,4 million every year. “They loose their capacity to produce their own food, they loose their food sovereignity, and they lived in hunger, this fact is tell us that the producer is starving” said Rahmat. The main reason of this foodless is massive land monopoly by state and multinational corporation. Land grabbing is the highlight of foodless, because many people lands are being taken in the name of development and monoculture plantation for export oriented. The monopoly is dedicated to to serve the need of international crops and food market. “Monopoly ownership and control of lands is being done through land grabbing, its effect is marginalization of small peasant and agriculture farming for food/crops” explain Rahmat In Indonesia the land grabbing are being used to open, massive palm oil plantation, timber, sugar cane , and land rent by state through its programme called Merauke Integrated Food and Fuel Estate (MIFFE). Another effect from in the absent of food soverignity is the domination of transnational corporation of seed, who are contribute to degradation of peasant life, through their patent of the artificial seed. “International monopoly corporations destroy peasant knowledge on seed, that are proved enviromentaly friendly, and suitable with local culture and biodiversty” Rahmat.

Harbour activity
shared by reiga on 2012-10-15These pictures were taken at Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa (Sunda Kelapa Harbor) during the rush hour at Saturday (13/10). This Harbour is one of the landmark of Jakarta, The harbor exist during the feudal age in Nusantara (name before Indonesia). This harbour also become the milestone of the emerging Jakarta City. During the feudal era, this harbor is under Padjajaran Empire then fall to Jayakarta during the emerging moslem Kingdom under the King called Raden Fatah or Jakarta Prince. When the Netherlands (dutch) colonized Nusantara it fall under the dutch, the name of the city is being change to Batavia, after the independence war and won on 1945, this harbor still become the main trade point, today Its called Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa, using the name that are given by Raden Fatah. But through the ages there are 3 things still remain, they are, low wage workers, dangerous working condition, and corrupt harbor officers. One of the loading workers at this harbor told me their income approximately 100 USD/month, without insurance and other benefits, they only given 1 meal every day. Most of them are coming from surrounding are of Jakarta, some of the is the working as ship crew, and their same the same income. Indonesia, do not regulate such workers, they are not being seen as formal workers, so they do not fall under Indonesian labor law, while there no regulation that regulate them. even for the ship crew there are no such thing. Most of these semi modern ship (pinisi ship) are owned by big bourgeois class in Jakarta.

shared by werriston on 2011-04-14Second roll with Impossible's new PX 680, and the first time *ever* that I've gotten eight whole shots out of a pack of Impossible film! All these were taken in bright sunlight within the space of an hour. There's a lot of chemical spottiness in this pack, but I kinda like it.

shared by werriston on 2011-03-25I haven't been all that jazzed about the green colour cast I get when processing the Lomo slide films as C41, so I decided to try processing this roll as E6, thinking I'd just get regular slides. Surprisingly, it seems that even using E6 is a type of cross processing, just an altogether different one. I really like the red and gold overtones I get when the film is processed this way, so I'm going to develop all my Lomo slide films as E6 from now on.
