Quinn

The train was packed of Geelong Cats fans. We didn't had much space between carriages and that's how I met Quinn: squeezed in the corner of a carriage along with a bunch of AFL fanatics. Soon we found out we were both going to the same event that day, a Climate Change rally. He was 17 years old and an extremely engaged boy, one of those uplifting and loving souls. He was finishing highschool and wanted to be a biologist. As soon as he found out that me and my friend were both biologists, his curious mind couldn't help but ask questions about our jobs, the places we've been, or the creatures we've seen. I saw my 17yo self many many times on that boy during that day: someone full of energy to change the world. We end up spending the whole afternoon together. We marched together. By the end of the day we never changed numbers, or facebook. We both discovered we would be in the same festival late that year: Woodford. And that sounded like a lovely way of catching up again. Our paths never crossed at Woodford in 2014. Surprisingly, more than a year later, we ended up bumping into each other on the following edition of Woodford. A very lovely surprise, followed by a long and comforting hug (like we were old friends who haven't seen each other in ages). It was beautiful to find out he's at uni now, studying environmental sciences, and building his own path. He still seems to have all that heartwarming energy. An one of kind human being.
