Lille has all the makings of a big city, without the excesses. You can get around on foot, by bike, or by metro, go from a museum to a cultural spot in an industrial wasteland in just a few stops, and there’s always a café to stop off at. A student city, a city of art, a city with a heart: it cultivates a warm, unpretentious atmosphere, just like its inhabitants.
