"Giulietta", Bertrand Lavier (1993)
Here is a work of art called "Giulietta" made by Bertrand Lavier in 1993 and shown in the MAMCS museum in Strasbourg (France). The car is in fact an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV. Lavier bought a car that suffered an accident and put it on a base. The aim is to show drama, to question about our society (excess and brutality), our fears (accidents and death), our culture (as Alfas appear in movies). He also said that it was not a ready-made like Marcel Duchamp did (ready-made being beautiful by indifference and lack of emotion) but what he calls a "ready-destroyed" and what is opposite it the way it conveys pure emotion.
