Welcome to my first real attempt at camera restoration. A while back I bought a job of 'broken' cameras mostly because one of them was an Ensign Selfix 16-20 in a case and I wanted to give that case to a friend who had helped me out with something. Well it turns out that this Selfix I had was in mostly great condtion although the lens was suffering from fungus and the aperture ring was stuck. After doing a bit of research and working on the theory of nothing ventured, nothing gained I separated the shutter/ lens assembly and gently dismantled the lens (giving them a very good clean in the process), then using lighter fluid I worked to dissolve away the old grease on the aperture ring so now it works. Of course I had reset the focal distance of the camera which was an interesting exercise in itself. So with this work done I ran a roll of film through it and these are results. The focal distance needs some more work and the shutter button action is stiff leading to some camera shake but over all for a 70+ year old camera it has worked remarkably well. Oh and to make things even more fun I decided to try a 1 hour stand development using 1+200 Rodinal dilution
