The man I respect the most, my grandfather. Now that he is widowed, he opens up a bit, and he has stories for ages. He was abandoned at birth by his mother. His father wasn't aware he had a son and they only met after my grandfather ran away from the orphanage. A judge gave him his majority at the age of 16. He was incorporated in the army during the Algerian independence war but refused to fight so they put him on a boat and forced him to shovel coal in the engine room for 10 hours a day. He rode his moped for 200km every night back and forth to meet my grandmother in secret before they could get married. He worked many jobs throughout his youth but became a qualified electrician later. He's the most kind-hearted and selfless person I know. If he hears you have problems, of any kind, he will help you fix them. Walking with him in the streets is funny: people recognize him everywhere and come to greet him. When my grandmother passed away, about a thousand people came to funeral to pay their respect to him. Nonetheless, he rarely smiles on pictures and looks moody (he never is).
