Kintsugi

Reclaim the charm of the imperfect and show us your cracked gold.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with a special mixture of lacquer and metal dust, celebrating flaws rather than hiding them. This philosophy, rooted in wabi-sabi, teaches us to embrace imperfection and spontaneity. In today’s world of perfect feeds and polished pixels, even film photography is sometimes expected to look digital: flawless and sharp. But as Lomographers, we know that the real magic lies in the unpredictable, the flawed, and the happy accidents. For this LomoMission, we challenge you to channel the spirit of kintsugi through your film photographs. Think light leaks, scratches, expired film, in-camera effects, double exposures, and experimental techniques. Whether carefully crafted or the result of spontaneous analogue magic, we want to see how you turn imperfections into stunning works of art!

Submit your imperfectly perfect film snapshots and get a chance to win a 10% discount code for our Online Shop! Each participant can submit up to 10 photographs taken on film. This competition will run until September 1, 2025. Good luck!
