Why do some photographers shoot ECN-2 film?

There are several reasons why some photographers choose to shoot with ECN-2 film. Firstly, ECN-2 film is relatively accessible and can be easily bought online, as cine film is still widely used for motion pictures. Buying bulk rolls of ECN-2 films and re-spooling them has become more common among photographers in recent years.

This leads us to another key factor in the popularity of ECN-2 film, which is affordability. Photographers can get around 16–18 36 exposure rolls from one 100ft roll of an ECN-2 film.

Lastly, these film stocks interest a lot of people because of their relation to cinema. Wanting to emulate the look from your favorite movies in your own photography is a big attraction. Besides this, the neutral balance that cine film produces with artificial light has led to their increasing popularity for low light photo shoots.
