Modest inhabitant of my garden.

Siberia. Spring. The second half of the May day. Yes, yes, yes, this is the same modest inhabitant of my garden, the steppe almond, which was waiting for my return from Kislovodsk, and was in no hurry to blossom. According to botanists, the steppe almond is a very close relative of the common almond, only it is not very tall and its fruits cannot be eaten - they are poisonous. The flowers of the steppe almond remind some experts of the flowers of the Japanese sakura. I do not think so, but still it brings us joy every spring with its shy pink blossom. There is no firework of pink emotions here, like in April in the Resort Park of Kislovodsk near the Quince Superba Pink Queen bush www.lomography.com/homes/awa-awa/photos/28332986, or near the sakura trees in the King Mihai I Park in Bucharest, or .... But, you know, in spite of everything, the steppe almond is very cute, and moreover, it has some hidden magical power that made me more than once go into a stationary orbit above its planet with different photographic equipment, including once with a unique film for aerospace research kodak aerocolor 125.

Здравствуйте! Очень понравилась Ваша "растительная" серия! Если не секрет, каким объективом это было снято?

    Dear artrma.
Thank you for your attention, opinion, and emotions.
Thank you for your interest and questions.
This photograph was taken with a Minolta X700 and a Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 lens. This is perhaps the lens with the MD mount that offers the best resolution, sharpness, and contrast of all lenses with this mount—that's one thing. And two, it has an exceptionally long focus ring throw at distances up to 1.5 meters. This allows for very precise focus adjustments on the small but very attractive inhabitants of summer landscapes. I really like it. Taking portraits of Lady Flora's subjects with this lens is always a joy.

    Dear artrma.
The Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 lens is typically sold with two lens caps: a front and a rear cap. A proprietary lens hood is available separately, as is any other lens hood that won't interfere with photography. I haven't encountered any special Voigtlander accessories for the Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 that would expand its technical capabilities. Therefore, this photo, like others taken with this lens, was taken without an attachment.
At the same time, I want to admit that sometimes, as in this case, I use macro rings with this lens. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my opinion that MINOLTA, when it was producing MD-mount photographic equipment, placed a great deal of emphasis on the production of macro photography equipment. Over the years, they managed to produce and sell significantly more such equipment than other companies. All of these tools and equipment are filled with brilliant ideas that allow you to effectively solve macro photography problems in a variety of conditions. Moreover, most of them are very affordable even today. In my opinion, it all starts with the MINOLTA MD viewfinder, which uses Doden wedges (Split-Image Rangefinder) and microprisms for focusing. This provides limitless possibilities for focusing on slow-moving objects of any size.
So, since the Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 lens has a fairly long minimum focusing distance, but also offers a very smooth and long focus adjustment, this shortcoming is easily compensated for by a set of MINOLTA macro tubes for the MD bayonet mount. For example, my photo of a tomato taken with this lens without an extension tube. The golden tomato is at the closest distance from the camera at which the lens can maintain sharpness. This photo shows the minimum image size of the Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 lens that will render the subject in sharp focus. If you need to reduce the image size (magnify the subject) while shooting, you need to use the macro ring. The further you reduce the image size, the wider (higher) the ring.
