The nine muses by Swiss artist Bettina Eichin are located somewhat inconspicuously in a corner of the University of Freiburg. After much discussion and irritation about the unusually melancholy depiction of the statues and after some time in a warehouse, they were finally placed in KG III. According to the artist, the statues lament the burden of history, which is often carried by women.
