Shibamata is one of the prettiest neighbourhoods of Tokyo. Home of a national celebrity - Tora-san, the hero of Otoko wa Tsurai yo ("It's Tough Being a Man"), a series of 50 films (!) released from 1969 to 2019... Tora-San (played all his life by the same actor, Kiyoshi Atsumi) is omnipresent in the main street of Shibamata: photos, posters, statues, figurines... and a museum (which has been closed that day). I did not know much about the films and the character before coming. I spoke with a couple of young hipsters visiting there, and they told me: "Tora-san? He's the soul of Japan"!

Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan’s capital, offers a unique blend of analogue charm and vibrant modernity, perfect for photography enthusiasts. The city’s traditional neighborhoods, such as Asakusa with its historic temples and narrow alleyways, provide rich opportunities for capturing the essence of old Tokyo, while areas such as Ginza and Shinjuku capture the energy and modernity of the largest urban environment in the world.
