They had several shafts down to the coal seams?

In the Ruhr area they had over 200 shafts. This system alone has three shafts. The whole mine had 17 shafts at the end of its time (in 2010). It was the east mine between Bergkamen and Hamm. In 1998 I was down there at a depth of 1,400 m. 850 m on the rope, 350 m with the chairlift and the rest on foot through the seam. They planed the coal. It was black and dusty :-)
