I just love film. It gives me the feels, you know.

Wherever possible I do zero post production and try to just let it be - though sometimes I will just correct a peculiar colour shift if it feels appropriate. Generally however, the process of letting go of an image once I've had that moment taking it, and only coming back to it after time has passed, (as opposed to checking, judging and reshooting until "perfection" is achieved), is all part of the magic of analogue photography that appeals to me. Going back to a way of working where things were what they were a bit more; less altered and fixed and touched up. I'm aware that art and photography are not the same as journalism, but in one way or another, the capturing or a moment in time is something that underpins most of what interests me.

Film always surprises you - both for the better and worse. I love how I leave it in the hands of the process once I've taken the shot, and even in the moment of taking the shot, the chemistry of the film and the physical light that interacts with it then and there make up a moment that cannot be undone. I choose my frame, press the shutter, and then leave it up the the gods of film and development to deliver me something wonderful, or not.

That feeling you get when you get back a roll from the lab, or even better develop it yourself, and somewhere on it there's an image or two (or more if you're lucky) that really blows you away, viscerally, is what keeps me throwing more and more money away at this silly little hobby we call film.
