It was a glorious afternoon for the monthly hot rod meet at Rosner's. Some of these are so creative and my favorites are always the rat rods. A rat rod is an American folk art form where the maker takes an antique car, often a Model T but could be anything, and he radically transforms it. They are often severely chopped and lowered, rust is seen as a lovely patina and is often left alone. The vehicle is embellished with found objects and household plumbing fixtures, crystal doorknobs and other "jokes". They are kind of the opposite of what most guys are trying to do which is to restore or make perfect, instead they revel in lo-fi imperfection and I think that's why I love them so much.
