This is another image of a series I started a short while ago called 'Reciprocity Failure'. It consists of portraits, still lives and landscapes about people close to me. Portraits of friends and people who I once called friends. Life sometimes rips, sometimes drifts you apart. Some friendships hold on strong, some fizzle out, some go out with a bang. Through this series I try to reconnect with people I am close, people I need to visit more often and people I haven't seen in years. I try to capture their life, how they feel about themselves, where they see themselves right now and try to document my relationship with them in a way too.
Last summer, my first editorial for Cake Magazine got published. The story revolves around upcycling and redesigning coveted pieces. Remaking them into something new and letting their memories live on. Thanks a lot to my wonderful team, Nicko de Oliveira as my hair & make-up artist and Charly Kponton as the model.
This image marks the start of another side project of mine, Talking Heads. Not sure about the title but the concept is clear cut (ha!). Doesn't matter if it's on set or on the street - if I come across an interesting head, a shock of hair or a fitting environmental combination, I take a picture and add it to the collection. Leo's leopard hair was the reason this all started.
testing old russian classic MTO-1000A mirror lens on my lovely Canon A1 body with 2x teleconverter. MTO-1000a is f/10,5 and 1100mm lens. distance between me and herons was about 200 meters. and i've used ilford hp5 film pushed to ISO 1600.
I recently purchased a stunningly well kept Mamyia 645E from a nice man online. He told me it's story briefly and I knew that I was duty bound to carry on it's previous owners love of film via this camera. So, this is my test roll. I tried all of the major functions from MX, Mirror Up, A mode, manual exposure, exposure compensation, etc. Successful test and I really like the quality of the 80mm lens on it. I cannot wait to get out and shoot more with it!
