  • Praia do Perequê-Açu, Ubatuba - SP

    shared by ars1997 on 2026-05-15

These photos begin a series of 3 film rolls that ended up disappointing me a little (the consequences of using expired film...), especially because of some of the photos that will appear later in these posts, which I took while spending two weeks in Ubatuba at the end of last year — one of the places I love visiting the most! Some friends even joke that “if God created a place more beautiful than Ubatuba, He hid it and kept it only for Himself.” Ubatuba is one of the most beautiful places along Brazil’s more than 7,000 km of coastline, with lush and imposing greenery, crystal-clear emerald waters, and the Serra do Mar (a geological formation that stretches across much of the Brazilian coast, where there is an abrupt transition from the shoreline to a plateau rising from 700 to more than 1,000 meters just a few kilometers from the sea), with its steep slopes reaching almost all the way to the ocean — like mountains that enjoy resting their feet in the warm waters of our coast. Ubatuba is the northernmost municipality on the coast of the state of São Paulo, bordering the state of Rio de Janeiro. The municipality on the Rio side of the border is Paraty, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also very close to Ilha Grande (one of the most famous tourist destinations for people visiting Brazil). Still, Ubatuba often ends up being somewhat overlooked by international visitors to Brazil (except for the Argentinians, hahah). At the moment, I’m developing a few more rolls of film (this time not expired) that I shot in Ubatuba, and maybe they’ll be able to convey a little of the beauty, life, and colors that this place brings.

Autumn in the Southern Alps is a festival of colors that tend towards brown and orange, the dominant color of larches. Unlike last year, snow had not yet covered the upper valley of the Clarée, two days after these photographs, traffic was prohibited there, and white covered everything.

Bicycle. One of the first film photos I'd taken since childhood. Seemed fitting to be the first photo to post here!
