Picked up a PetriFlex V on an auction site for a relatively small amount of money. I had previously owned a Petri Rangefinder that, disappointingly, had been rendered unusable by the green grease used to lubricate the focal plane shutter turning to stone. Thought this one might be a little better given it has a curtain shutter. Turns out, my luck with Petri cams is not great. The winder on this wouldn't work to cock the shutter. Given what I paid for it, I wasn't shy about opening it up to poke around. Was able to get it working but not perfectly. Instead of a single throw winding lever, it now takes two throws to cock the shutter and advance the film. Also, it is a stellar example of the phenomenom known as 'Shutter Capping' (the dark bands at the top or right side of the frame, depending on orientation). This occurs when the mirror is not in sync with the horizontal curtain shutter. I can look past that as it is clearly something I caused when I 'fixed' the shutter cocking mechanism. What I can't get around is how hard this camera is to focus. The focus screen is awful for my eye (although it does have a very snazzy 'Petri and logo' engraved in it). The prism to tell you it is in focus are incredibly small and there is not enough contrast to clearly show focus has been attained. It is more of a guess than a certainty that focus has been achieved. There is, however, things I do love about this camera: it's heft is fantastic; the front body shutter release (much like the Praktica); the large round film counter window next to the rewind knob, the knurled focus ring on the stout lens; and the outsanding offset external lightmeter, to name a few. Will I be using this again...not likely. Will it look great on the shelf in my office...most definitely.

Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, SC. One of my old haunts when I lived there. Great place for photos or some quiet peace. Shot with a Zero Image 2000 Deluxe with filter. Used an infrared filter in an attempt to access the infrared spectrum that Catlabs X 320 has some capability of capturing. Metered at box speed and used the exposure scale on the camera to make adjustments. Windy day and the tripod got moved around a bit.

Went to Richmond, VA with my wife to hunt for angels in Hollywood Cemetery. Great trip, great statuary. https://www.hollywoodcemetery.org Developed in HC-110 (FPP-110) Dilution H for 16 minutes. Love the punchiness of this film. What I don't like is the fiddliness of it....very thin, which makes processing very difficult. Upside is it is super flat, which makes scanning a breeze. Last image is a dark slide fail.
