WIP; trying to scan in all the Polaroids from my 20's. Back when 600 came in packs of 10 at the drugstore and you'd just shove it in a SX-70 with no filter and hope for the best. #SX70 #Polaroid #Polaroid600 #Instant #color
meeting you, my dear flower, was like a flash so quick i can't even tell how long the touch lasted. my heavy hand and your fragile nature are both real, but what does time make of us? if i leave you where you are, it will take weeks, maybe months, before you wither and turn to dust. but if i decide to steal you away, you’ll have only a few days. i can preserve your outer form — but will there be life within it? where are you? is your body is you? or isn’t? compared to you, i live forever, which means we can’t ever meet the same way again. yet i will cut away my essence and become something different to meet you once more. what is a photograph? a little death. a palm on transparent emulsion isn't part of my body anymore, it isn't alive. it’s just the imprint of what i once was. the same way that fragile, transparent something was once you. and now we're together again. in other being. #polaroid #polaroidlift #lift #flower #emulsion #plant
As Queerness deconstructs the boundaries of what it is to be human, polaroid can be used as a medium in deconstruction, changing even the appearance of what one knows to be a polaroid photograph. Through cutting, glueing, overlapping and intermixing polaroids along with other materials, new aunusual compositions emerge that transgress space and timelines to expand the possibilities of visual expression, as “queer”, surpassing any sort of canon and categorization. This chaotic process allows dealing with subjects such as body dysphoria, and the relation of the body and its presence in a certain space, with certain people and lovedones and all the issues that come in that context. As well as the effects it has on memory, the sense of time and the idea of the self.
