It’s been a difficult season of transition with my mom dealing with some severe short-term memory loss, and I’ve been helping her adjust to come to terms with it and make the move to assisted living, parting with her car, and some of her independence. I made the seven-hour drive to be there and have the hard talks with her. It was not fun and relatively just a gloomy, stressful trip. I’m not sure why I brought my camera. I didn’t feel inspired to take any photos. But on the tail-end of the stay, just after sunrise, I found myself wandering the quiet grounds of her retirement village and forced myself to take a few close up shots of the flora.
