Fallen Log - Kodachrome Tribute, Wisconsin 2009
After Kodak announced the discontinuation of Kodachrome film on June 22, 2009 I stocked up with a brick of KR 64 for my yearly vacation to Northern Wisconsin. The original scans I got from the lab were terrible and my old scanner wasn't much better (Kodachrome is notoriously difficult to scan accurately). I was disappointed with the results and the slides sat forgotten in a box for 3 years before I revisited them with my new Epson Perfection V700. Now the exquisite detail and dead-neutral colors have been revealed! The new scans have transported me back to the places that I captured 3 years ago. The colors are exactly as I saw them—sunlight or cloudy—truth remains the same. My one regret is not using more of this exquisite film before its demise.
