@onkel-m Thank you! But really, credit is due to Nikon's metering system. I bought the F50 in about '97, and it was the cheapest new Nikon body available at the time (and is now available on eBay for about €50). In all my years of using it, I haven't had more than a handful of shots that were badly exposed. It will never be one of the 'great' cameras in the long story of photography, but it's always been a great camera to me... :-)
