I had climbed a few mountains but my training was never rock climbing. That's why I was so excited to explore the adventures of rock climbing when an opportunity came to do it with experts and fellow newbies. The hike to the rockies of Mt. Masungi was not really long and admittedly quite a leisure. But the ascent to the top of the tall rock formations was the challenging part. Despite not wearing the proper shoes, the guided natural wall climb motivated me to persevere. Good thing the climb was divided into stages. I reached the top with painful muscles and a few scratches and like the others, stayed there for awhile to breathe the fresh mountain air and savor the feeling of accomplishment. The descent was through rappelling which was easy for me - putting to use what I learned in one of the training climbs I had which focused on learning the skills of going down the rope. Hope one of these days I can again experience a challenging rock climb. Took these doubles combining my shots chronicling the travel to the site and the climb itself.
