In September I was lucky enough to visit the gorgeous amphitheater in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. What made this day even better was that there was a huge orchestra and singers practicing for a show taking place there later that evening!

Raycho Stanev is a visual artist and designer whose work includes various art installations, illustrations, photography, audio and video projects presented worldwide. His installations are reflecting past and present, personal memories, heritage (communist) policies and urban cultures. Raycho is always on the go and loves to travel around the world with his Fisheye 1 camera! Until February 29th you can visit his exhibition 'Fisheye Adventure' in the Lomography Gallery Store Berlin.

This is our first workshop and it will revolve around urban faces and landscapes. The goal will be to use techniques such as multi-exposures, light painting to present the spirit and face of Sofia through a plastic lens.

I visited Bulgaria while it was still communist. The first thing that kept my attention was the Cyrillic writings on traffic signs. It took some exercise and learning to manage my way into Bulgaria. These Cyrillic letters are very nice and you feel yourself like in an exotic and unknown country, when you have to read them first.
