Ryan Tatar's The Outer Sunset

LomoAmigo Ryan Tatar, surfer and film photographer from California, takes us to an analogue exploration of an offbeat surf culture in the outer sunset district of San Francisco. See his utopian cross-processed shots after the break.

“This fall, I’m exploring the Outer Sunset district of San Francisco, documenting it’s unique off beat surf culture. A land of windswept dunes, constant fog, giant macking winter surf and strong rips and currents.

Walk across the Great Highway thru the dunes and watch your step. Dark, freezing water, surging towards the coast. Giant container ships heading into the bay… with the purple mountains of Marin visible on only a clear day. Old timers, bohemians, and artists are gathering here… and a unique culture has sprung up in this sometimes forgotten district of San Francisco."
