U-17

In 2024, they tranported the old U-Boat U-17 of the Bundesmarine from Kiel (where it was laid off) to the Technik Museum in Sinsheim. 800 km, first - on a pontoon barge - through the Kiel canal and through the North Sea to the mouth of the river Rhine; then down the Rhine to Speyer; then down the river Neckar down to Haßmersheim; and then, over streets through towns and finally the Autobahn to the Museum in Sinsheim. On two days, I followed the submarine on its final journey - one day by car along the river Rhine and then, half a year later, after it was prepared for road transport, a few kilometers on foot through the wonderful landscape of the Neckar region. A once in a lifetime event!
