Fuji Superia 200 35mm

Fuji Superia 200 ISO 35mm was one of my first films that I used with my Diana F+. Until now, I have used only one roll as after I bought it, as there weren’t any left at the local photo labs. However, they recently updated their stocks and I’m very anxious to give this film another try.

Fuji Superia 200 is a cheap film (about 3 euros at the local photo labs) and I consider it to be in the same class as Kodak ColorPlus 200. I can say that I got almost the same results with the two films when it comes to the colors and clarity of the shots in different lighting conditions.

Getting back to the Fuji Superia 200, you must bear in mind when shooting with this film that you will get the best results in daylight (especially when it’s sunny) and at night using a flash. I was very impressed with the sharpness of the close-up shots that I took.

Also, I really liked how the colors popped out in the shots taken using the Lomography Ringflash.

But when you take the film indoors and start shooting without a flash, things get a bit tricky. Your subjects have to stand very still and your camera has to be on a tripod or any other place where it will not be moved. Only then it will be safe to take the shot. To be honest, this is the only indoor photo taken without a flash and a tripod that came out okay.

All the others looked like this.

It was a bit disappointing, but I learned my lesson. And in the process I also tried some easy experiments with long exposure as well. I got some really funky results. These shots had an eerie feel to them which I really enjoy.

Pros
•Great sharpness and colors in daylight or when using a flash
•Great price (about 3 euros)
•Great for long exposure experiments

Cons
•A bit hard to get good quality shots when used indoors under not very good lighting conditions.

All in all, this is a great film! Great sharpness, vivid colors, and big personality which will give your shots an interesting and personal touch! It’s a great film to use in close-up photography, portraits and at parties using a Lomography Ringflash.
