Kodak to Discontinue Ektachrome and Elite Chrome Extra Color Films

Kodak announced yesterday that they are discontinuing their Ektachrome E100G, Ektachrome E100VS and Elite Chrome Extra Color 100 films. As was stated in an official press release on their website, the decision is “due to a steady decrease in sales and customer usage, combined with highly complex product formulation and manufacturing processes”.

In light of this news, we wanted to alert Lomographers on just how long existing stocks of these 3 Kodak films will be available. Their press release states:
“We estimate that, based on current sales pace, supplies of these films are expected to be available in the market for the next six to nine months; however, inventories may run out before then, depending on demand”.

While this is by no means good news at least there’s still a chance to stock up on these films, should they be your favorites. Also, it’s a chance for those who’ve never experimented with the films, to do so. Also, you can have a sigh of relief as the Kodak Professional Color Negative Films, Kodak Professional Black and White Films remain in production and unaffected.

But rest assured Lomographers, this is not the end of analogue photography. Lomography is dedicated to analogue and will continue to produce film !

Kodak Ektachrome E 100G

Sad news, but the writing was on the wall when the killed off Elitechrome EB even before they filed for bankruptcy. It is a shame to see any films go, but I hope they will be able to concentrate on their amazing colour negatives and B&W films now. Fuji make some superb slide films which are generally a lot cheaper than the Kodak offering, although how long that will last when they are a near monopoly I don't know.

"Due to a steady decrease in sales and customer usage" - it seems, as evidenced by the comments here and our social media platforms, that there are still quite a number of people who use and buy the films! It's up to us to determine the future of analogue, and as long as there's interest (and there is from what I've witnessed) it looks to be positive ;)

I haven't try E100VS & E100G =( One of lomographer in my hometown luckily found E100VS expired with the most cheapest price ever ($ 1) in Pasar Baru, Jakarta, Indonesia =D

@dazb. No, Lomography's X-Pro Chrome 100 won't be discontinued. We hope everyone won't let this sad news affect them too much. Go out, and take photos with the array of films available, and keep living the analogue life!

Real Bummer , the 100 vs is one of my favorit film with the EBX. I used dozens of them.
The last ones in the market are going to be expensive to get now!
