Prototypes shoots with the Lomo LC-A+

In our continuing effort to bring you Lomography from interesting and creative people from all fields and in many flavors, this month our “Music” Amigos continues with the electro-pop stylings of Prototypes.

Prototypes are an indie trio from France. Their song “Who’s Gonna Sing” was featured in an Apple iPod ad in 2006.

Check out this fun gallery from the synth-loving band, shot with the dynamic LC-A+, then read the interview below!

Enjoy!

REAL NAME Iza (vocals), Fafane et François (the 2 musicians)
CITY Paris, Nantes
COUNTRY France

How long have you been a Lomographer (or are you new to this whole thing?)
P: We have used a lomographer for a video project with Twist Gondry and Lili Delaroque, during our US tour, last year. We took many serial photos with it, and they made a video with the pictures. You can see it our Myspace. But here, it was the first time using the LC-A+

Describe the LC-A+ in five words
P: Playful, creative, good-looking, easy, quality

The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had.
P: Traveling by plane in USA with 60 rolls, and the policemen who were checking all the rolls one by one, for each travel plane for each airport controls… Good times!

If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be (song title & artist please).

  • The Disco Song – Au Revoir Simone
  • Polaroid-Roman-Photo – Ruth
  • That’s not my name – The Ting Tings

What’s up with all the records (the shot where a lovely lady is standing on them?) Where did they all come from?
P: Sorry, I’ve not seen the photos yet, so I don’t know what shot you’re actually talking about. Mainly, I’ve taken photos in Paris, Nantes (France) and Montreal (Canada)…

If you could be anywhere, doing anything, right now, where would it be and what would you do?
P: In front of the sea, drinking a good cocktail, listening to good music in headphones, and imagining new songs to play.

Tell us why EACH and EVERY man should have a moustache at some point in life?
P: Because it’s manly and… so sexxxy !

What future do you see for analog photography? What do you think sets it apart from digital?
P: It’s not the same way to take photos at all. There will always be some people who will use analog photography, to experiment, not to see the exact reality, as it is the case with digital photography. You know: trying to see
something more poetic, something different than the reality. It’s what you can do with analog photography…

The one person (living or deceased) who you would most like to photograph?
P: The first man who walked on the moon

Your advice to future LC-A+ shooters.
P: Be careful with the over-exposure when you do multiples, because of the multiple-exposures. So don’t forget to adjust the ASA settings before! Otherwise, let yourself be guided by your instinct…
