dear ____, as the moon lingers a moment over the bitterroots, before its descent into the invisible, my mind is filled with song. i find i am humming softly; not to the music, but something else; some place else; a place remembered; a field of grass where no one seemed to have been; except a deer; and the memory is strengthened by the feeling of you, dancing in my awkward arms.
I've been lomographing Angono's Higantes parade for two years in a row. On the third time I thought I should do something different that would make my shots distinct from my past shots. Did these doubles on the parade and textures. And added tiny freckles on the photographs by experimenting with coke. Recently I've been into this experimental mood and loving each moment of it. Coke is it!
The creative team decided to spend a few hours at the beach that morning after breakfast. The sun was up and the sea was calm. We saw groups of fisherfolks (young and old, men and women) in different areas in a line, trying to pull the huge net to the shore to harvest their catch of the day. One line was holding one end while the other group with the other end of the net. The two lines were separated by around 150-yard distance along the shore. A wooden belt-like tool tied to the net with a clip-on mechanism was put around the waist of each person. To pull the net off the sea, they had to use their force to step back following the same rhythm. Once a considerable portion of the net was pulled to shore, the person at the back transferred to the front, so on and so forth. The whole process done on both ends took two hours with their rhythmic steps resembling a dance. It was a beautiful ritual and definitely an inspiring sight to see the whole community working together, helping each other to earn their food and money for the day. Some of the women were patiently waiting on the shore so they could soon sell the fresh catch to the village or to the nearest market.
i found all these pictures in some cabinet of my dad. some of them he made himself, the others were made by my mom, one of his brothers or maybe one of his sisters.
i remember that my dad had an agfa iso and a porst automatic. he kept both cameras for many many years but i can´t say exactly if this picture was made with one of them but they would fit the time the picture was made.
Em 06/AGO'11 levei para o cume do Pico Paraná uma câmera descartável e a prova d'água. Fiz a primeira foto e deixei a câmera lá em cima, numa pequena caixa de metal onde fica o caderninho de assinaturas. Junto com a câmera, deixei um tag com meus contatos e as instruções para que as pessoas tirassem 1 foto e devolvessem a câmera para a caixinha. A última pessoa deveria trazer a câmera de volta.
