Fish Ball

Couldn’t deal with it anymore.

I was so tired of it all.

Under the Eiffel Tower, at the Times Square, on Bondi Beach, in front of the Big Ben, by the Golden Gate Bridge. They all look the same.

The same big smile, the same V signs, the same out-of-place tourists posing by the same famous landmarks.

Is that all the advances of digital photography amount to??

Very often, you go to an event where everyone takes pictures and everyone ends up with multiple sets of almost identical pictures.

I needed a new angle, some fresh air for my eyes.

About a month ago, I found myself browsing through some fish eye lens for my first-generation DSLR. With a price-tag of well over $300 a piece, it would certainly put me under considerable pressure to produce enough great images to justify it, making photography a little less fun.

Then came a moment of fate. Amongst all the distorted fish eye images I was staring at, was this curious little thing with a big round eye on top of it.

Ha! The Fish Eye 2. Copper version. Limited edition. It even has a crab on it! I was so in love with this strangely beautiful creature that I switched to my I-just-gotta-have-it frenzy mode. I looked it up on Lomography.com, on urbanoutfitter.com, and so on, only to find that it’s no longer in stock.

So you could imagine I was completely overjoyed when I finally found one on eBay.

This is the 1 month anniversary of winning my dear “Fish Ball” and within 4 short weeks, I’ve already burnt through 12 rolls of films.

Ain’t no stopping us now :)
