Colour Darkroom Printing Baby!

3

So, it all started a few weeks ago when I signed up for the local open studios lark, and now I actually have to produce some work to go in the exhibition……. and I want to do it all film and darkroom based, no digital process at all. Now, I can quite easily print black and white pieces in the darkroom at work after hours, it’s was the colour ones which were going to be the problem.

I could just suck it up and print digital copies, but…. I LOVE darkroom printing, and it seems a shame to cop out at the final point when I am making the effort to exhibit, and (hopefully) sell. I may well do some promo postcards and stickers digitally, as I know when I go around the studios, if I don’t have enough money to buy something original from an artist, I can at least buy a small postcard to look at, plus you can use it as advertising with ya details on the back and such.

So I had a look around, and to my surprise and joy there are still a few places in the UK that do Colour Darkroom courses, and darkroom hire as well, So I went for the nearest one, which happens to be in London at Photochats. A 5 hour course for complete beginners is just £60, which is a great price considering it includes materials. All I have to do is take some negatives, of which I have many! And of course make my way there and back….. come on trains, don’t fail me now!

So yeah….. I JUST CAN’T WAIT! I will finally be learning something I have wanted to do ever since I saw it at university, but never had the chance. Once I have got some prints done, i’ll post em up :D
