A paper-made forest by Japenese Artist - Kuribayashi Takashi
The white trees that appear to float in space were moulded by Takashi Kuribayashi after real larch trees that can be found in Yamagata, Japan. These papier-mâché trees are made of Awa washi, a kind of traditional Japanese paper made by hand from natural materials such as kozo (hybrid mulberry tree) and mitsumata (paper bush) and a symbol of the natural ecology. The forest that lies above the ground would be peered at by the viewer as though from an insect’s perspective.
